The hand would slowly creep out of the door, then grab the coin quickly Eventually, my older brother snapped the glowing hand off. I got this with hand puppets of Lily and Herman Munster for Christmas.

This was a variant of the infamous "Ultimate Machine" created by Dr. Claude Shannon ("the father of Information Theory"). There are many videos of such machines on YouTube; this is one of them.
