The cheapest gas I remember was 19.9 cents a gallon for regular at the Liberty station down the street. I think it was about 1958. They were involved in a "gas war" with other neighboring stations at the time. Remember those?
Agreed, Duff! Isn't it about time we dropped that 9/10 of a cent stuff? Just round it up to the next penny, for Pete's sake! I've always wondered if the oil companies figure they're making an extra 9/10 of a cent per gallon or are they giving up 1/10 of a cent? The way prices fluctuate these days, who would know? Psychological mumbo jumbo. We all know that $3.699 a gallon is SO much less than $3.70 a gallon, right?

I find it surprising that the ".9" thing remains in use. Back then, saving a penny every ten gallons meant something. But now??
