I own a vintage Toastmaster toaster from the early 1960s with bakelite handles.  I aquired it about three years ago.  I use it a lot and it works beautifully - better than any toaster I've had in the past 25+ years.

Baskelite was invented by Leo Baekeland, a Swedish chemist and Union Carbide acquired the rights to make and market it in the US back at the end of the 1930's.
