Funny about the marketing for the 4K sets. I wonder when there will actually be content that IS 4k resolution, not "upconverted 1080p. Most people don't even realize that ALL network TV broadcasts are in eithier 1080i or 720p. Anything that "tells" your TV that it is 1080p is something that was "upconverted" (from Satellite and cable boxes) which offers no image improvement, just tricks the TV to think that it is actually 1080p. That is my words of wisdom for the day.

200 lines of resolution? The 4K sets have exceptional resolution. What's next?

As a kid in the 60's, I remember one of my dad's co-workers brought to our house one of those home video recorders. For what it was back then,the picture was good, but I don't remember the audio on it. I had forgotten the home video recording back then. Then Sony came out with their Betamax VCR in the mid-seventies and the amazing thing was Sony's improvement with the technology. Now we have DVD's and Blu-ray discs which are vastly superior to the Beta and VHS tapes.

Man, I have loads of Beta tapes and two high-end Sony Betamax VCR's sitting around here in need of repair, but have no idea where to send them. I suspect all they'd need to run again is a new pulley or two.

Oh, man, I don't know the year of my BetaMax, but I still have it, along with the original Carl Sagan Cosmos series on the tapes, with other treasures. Now I'm glad I kept things!

$695 wasn't a bad price for this, but, personally, it might was well have been $6,950.

I don't know how much this cost, but I can assure you, it was too rich for my blood. :)
