Most computers and chargers still use two prong plugs. I remember when I lived overseas I bought a new charger for my computer from a mail order place in the States and I didn't realize it had a three prong plug. The country that I lived in was on a 220 volt/60 Hz current but used the the old two flat prong outlets for which my charger, which worked on any voltage, so I still had to wait to use it as I had to order an adapter to accommodate that.

Either you had to get an adaptor, or you'd have to cut off the grounding prong.

I know i wasn't the only one guilty of filing down the plug so it would fit.

When did the two prongs become different sizes? That change happened while I wasn't watching. I'm pretty sure our house had two-prong outlets with identical holes, and the first time I encountered a polarized plug, I nearly broke the outlet I was attempting to plug it into.

Our house still has them. It was built in 1950...
