No..Bob..From 1948 to 1958..WABD TV Ch.5 was part of the Dumount
TV Network..when Dumount was closed down in September of 1958..
it became a local independent NYC based tv station:WNEW TV Ch.5.

From their debut in the late 1940's..WPIX TV Ch.11,WOR TV Ch.9
in NYC and WATV/WNTA TV Ch.13 in Newark,N.J. were local independent
TV Stations..Ch.13 didn't become a part of the National Educational TV Network
until 1962.SurprisedSmileWink

In those days in NYC channels 5, 9 and 11 were the "independent" stations.
And 13 was the "educational" channel.
