The Pueblo incident North Korea captured the USS Pueblo, a Navy intelligence research vessel, in January, 1968, and held its crew captive for most of that year.

This US Navy ship was captured by North Korea in international waters, possibly for the Soviet Union to be able to use the equipment on board to test US surveillance information that John Walker had sold them. One US service man was killed in the attack and capture of the Pueblo.
