In Colton, we lived between TWO cruising meccas: In San Bernardino it was E Street and in Riverside it was Magnolia Avenue. Cruising was a tremendous business booster. Radio stations KFXM and KMEN played to all the cruisers. Not only did people drive in their cars, they watched from the sidewalk. Watching from the sidewalk, we guys would also watch the pretty girls as they passed by us. It was all very orderly and polite. I don't think it would be 1/10 as safe now as it was then. When cruising was outlawed, all the businesses left too.

We used to 'drag main'. Nothin' else to do in my little town.
