Hey obie--wan-kenobi,

I remember cloth bench seats with these covers in cars. I don't know if they still make bench seats, but I'd sure like to have bench seats. They feel more spacious to me than "bucket" seats with the gear shift console between them. (I wish actual station wagons were still available, too. Nowadays it's all SUVs.)

Stuck to your thighs in hot weather if you were a kid wearing shorts in a house with no air conditioning. Can still feel (and hear) the sound it made when you tried to get up smile

I seem to remember (boy am I getting old) when cloth bench seats in cars also had these plastic covers. Anyone remember that?

Grandma had car seat covers like this in her '57 Pontiac wagon which eventually yellowed and cracked ; but boy that upholstery stayed neat even when the rest of the car rotted away.

As an Irish kid in an Italian neighborhood....this was the first thing that caught my eye at my friends house....they had a "spare living room" that was never used and was always covered in plastic. Some even had a "spare kitchen" in the cellar.

I hated these... it made the back of your legs (and butt) sweat.

My mom had the plastic on her sectional sofa for about 15 years, and took it off only when she decided to get a new sofa.

No, can't say I remember that. Maybe if I saw a photo... and good luck finding one; I spent several hours scouring the Internet for a photo, and this was the best I could find.

Yeah, but do you remember the bubbled cover? That is what my grandparents had on their sectional. Boy! Wish I had that sectional today. It would look so cool in my house.

That's the truth! My grandmother's "good" sofa was covered in plastic until she passed on. My grandfather took it off and the sofa sadly deteriorated from then.
