Have you been to a playground lately? If kids fall off the monkey bars, they land on a soft layer of wood chips or something similar, as opposed to asphalt or the bare ground, as we did. And see-saws don't look like fun at all -- there's no way to bounce your friend in the air, or slam him to the ground! I also think it's harder to really get a swing going anywhere near 180 degrees, let alone beyond that. I fondly recall looking down on the support bar on the backswing.
