Before"Casey Jones"(Mr.Awsumb)had "Roundhouse Rodney"(Mr.Dwyer)as his comedy assistant on the show? He was aided in his comedy skits by"Jojo The Cook"(Mr.Chris Weedes) on"Lunch With Casey Jones".

No..Bob K..Most of the websites don't have alot of info about Claude's efforts as a local NYC based kids tv cartoon show mc and puppeteer.

The only website that has any real info about "Terrytoon Circus',"Merry Tunes Circus"and Claude's other kids tv stints..is.."TV Party'..A fellow by the name of Kevin Butler wrote that info and provided alot of info about his work for that site..I hope that you and the other users of "The Baby Boomer e Museum"will check it out.

Mr.Nostalgia, funny how in my original post I called it Merrytune Circus as I remembered it but went to Google Kirschner's name spelling and found nothing stating it as Merrytoon Circus, but Terrytune Circus.  I thought I had lost my mind being 63 years old and all so I edited my post and changed it to Terrytune Circus.  I guess I didn't lose it after all.

Dear Bob K.,
When Claude Kirchner first hosted a tv cartoon show at WOR TV Ch.9 in
NYC in 1956..the series was titled"Terrytoon Circus'..Later when the staffers
at Ch.9 changed the cartoon programs from The "Terrytoons"to the Columbia
/Charles Mintz films and The Paramount/Famous..Paramount/Fleischer "Talker
toons"film series..the program's title was changed to"Merrytoons Circus" in 1962.

It was called Claude Kirschner's Terrytoon Circus on WOR channel 9.  I remember it well.

Dear Duff,

I've sent to you two images to The NYC-Area Tv/Radio section of
your website..One is of Claude Kirchner with his two puppets:"Scrubby
The Pig" and "Dr.Owl"from the 1957 weekday afternoon version of
"The Scrub Club"..the other is a kids record of"The Mischief Makers"
Theme song(I'm sorry that I don't have an ad or a photo for the show
..but..I hope that this will be acceptable for your site)?

Could be wrong here but I don't think "Lt. Colombo" 's first name was ever revealed, either.

"The Wife" was never named or seen Smile

Hi Joyce,
I was going to kid you and say his first name was 'doctor.'

According to Wikipedia, Quincy's first name was never revealed - only his first initial:
"In the third-season episode "Accomplice to Murder" his name is shown on a business card as "R. Quincy" and in early episodes the name "Dr R. Quincy" appears on his door."

I didn't remember the R until I looked it up.  Cheers!

I am watching Quincy M.E.  with Jack Klugman. What I would like to know is what was Quincy's first name. Or is Quincy is first name then what was his last name. Does anyone know. Thank You

Another Long Island Station also located in Nassau County was WHLI.  It transmitted the same content on AM and FM. " WHLI,1100 on your AM dial, and WHLI FM; 98.3 on FM receivers, in Hempstead, New York."  If memory serves me right, the transmitters were on the north side of the Southern State Parkway.  From Levittown in the early '60s I used to build crystal radios that would only pick that station up.

'Elisa'...at the 64 World's Fair, WTFM was broadcasting live, and at the time my dad was running a commercial for his Hi-Fi Stereo warranty service...we watched Charles Duvalle at work through the open viewing window...my old man, through hand gestures and lip movement managed to convey to M.Duvalle that HE was the owner of the business for which he'd just read the commercial copy, so he quite nicely came out, talked to my dad and they parted a few minutes later after shaking hands....that incident completely changed my dad's opinion of him as a 'greasy Frenchman with a fake accent'...turned out he WAS French and a very nice gentleman.

CB in FL...BTW - I DID find a reference to the station on Wikipedia after following the link to WKTU...THANK YOU!!!  I'm not carzy after all!!!
Posted by chrisbroz at 7:58 am (PST) on Thu January 22, 2015
Thanx, 'Elisa', for your link...I'm following them on FB and have put out the call for help on their wall...dunno WHY this is becoming a near obsession with me....but when NO ONE even GOOGLE can find a memory, something is wrong...and it ain't my memory!!!

CB in FL...most other folks wouldn't give a rat's ass

MEGA THANX to all who are trying to help me find info on the now defunct WTFM out of Lake Success NY...some of your replies bring back great memories...like WNCN & WPAT (mostly we heard it in NJ as an AM station)....PAT carried 'Make-believe Ballroom, IIRC)...speaking of radio stations...who remembers WNEW AM with Julius La Rosa & the late great William B Williams???  When I got out of the Army in '74 and came home it was the station I listened to while driving to grad school in South Orange from Wayne every day...

CB in FL...BTW I did the WTFM Google also and found only the reference to the station in Tenn...

We lived in New Hyde Park, right next to Lake Success, but if my folks wanted easy listening, I think they chose WPAT.  They generally listened to WQXR, though.

oh heck one more item to help I hope: WNCN-FM New York "Eine Kliene" - Google Groups Jan 28, 2004 - "Classical DJ" Bill Watson did an all-night program, sponsored by the. Cattlemen Restaurant, called "Listening With Watson." His opening .... IIRC, with "Charles Duvall, your continental host," said with a heavy (possibly fake?) accent ... The Lake Success station was WTFM one of the first full time stereo multiplex.

For the New York City radio station formerly called WTFM, see WKTU.
WKTU (103.5 FM) – branded 103.5 KTU – is a Rhythmic Contemporary format radio station licensed to Lake Success, New YorkUSA, a suburb of New York City. WKTU is owned by iHeartMedia and broadcasts from studios in the AT&T Building in the Tribeca district of Manhattan; its transmitter is located on the top of the Empire State Building.

Hope this helps in your journey.

I went back as far as i could on the FCC website. Only station with those call letters is in Tennessee. I emailed a person at the FCC who might be able to give me info on archives. It could simply be that the early days haven't been added to the computer database yet. I'll let you know if i hear anything.

On the subject of NYC area radio...does ANYONE remember an early 'easy listening' station out of Lake Suuccess, LI, call letters WTFM???  Sombody...help me!!!  My dad listened to this almost exclusively, except for WQXR, the 'Radio Station of the NYT'.  Can't seem to find any reference to it on Google...someone on anotrher FB group mentioned a song covered by the country artist Roy Clark, that was an original for the French Crooner of the 60s, Charles Aznavour, who gor LOTS of airtime on WTFM, especially on the evening show called Cafe Continental, hosted by a Frenchman with a HEAVY accent, Charles DuValle...can't find ANYONE who remembers this...HOPING against HOPE that someone here remembers this long forgotten station...it was one if the first FM stations to go on the air in the early 60s, IIRC...

Thanks, Michael, for suggesting an entry for the regional Bozo the Clown shows.  I've changed the Regional TV/Radio gallery to focus mainly on the NYC area after realizing just how overwhelming the work to maintain a broader gallery could become.  I'll add an item on Bill Britten's WPIX-TV (NYC) version, which can serve as home base for user comments on all regional versions.  I'll also use that entry to post links to some good Bozo info at other sites.

Have you thought about a listing for the regional "Bozo the Clown" shows. WGN in Chicago had a very long running on that was an hour each day, and WZZM TV in Grand Rapids Michigan had the one I watched for many years that showed the "Bozo the Clown" cartoons made in the 60's.

Thanks, Kids TV Kid, for all the informative comments you're posting here, and for the link to tvparty.com. I'll do my best to continue adding items here, including the ones you've suggested. As for Wikipedia, I encourage you to submit corrections and refinements to their articles; I've done so quite a bit lately.

The info about most of the kids tv shows that aired in
The NYC viewing area that is listed at Wikipedia is not correct..Duff..
EG: "The J. Fred Muggs Show" didn't air on WNEW TV Ch.5...It aired
on WNTA TV Ch.13 from Newark, N.J.

If you and the other users of "The Baby Boomer eMuseum" want
to learn more about NYC's most popular kids tv shows?

You should check out the articles written by a fellow named
Kevin S. Butler in "The NYC Kids Shows Round Up" section in
The "Lost Kids Shows" section of www.tvparty.com

Wikipedia has a pretty comprehensive List of local children's television series (United States), sorted by state/city. Some (but not all) of them have links to their own Wikipedia pages.

There were two more popular kids tv comedy performers..who were seen weekday afternoons and sunday mornings in the NYC/NJ/Ct.viewing area from 1960 to 1967.

Chuck McCann and The Paul Ashley Puppets entertained many NYC kids on"Laurel & Hardy & Chuck" Weekday afternoons and Sunday afternoons from Wednesday September 7,1960 to Friday December 29,1962 and Sunday October 14,1962 to Sunday
December 31,1962. They also hosted"Let's Have Fun!"Sunday
Mornings from Sunday September 18,1960 to Sunday August 15,
1965 and "The Chuck McCann Shows" from Monday September 3,
1963 to 1966.

These shows were seen on WPIX TV Ch.11 in NYC and "The Chuck McCann Show"was also seen Weekday afternoons and saturday mornings on WNEW TV Ch.5 in NYC. McCann and Ashley and their puppets also mc'd two more kids tv shows on WNEW TV Ch.5 during the 1965/1967 tv season.."The Great Bomo's Magic Cartoon Circus Lunchtime Show" and "Chuck McCann's Laurel & Hardy Show".

I hope that you might add their efforts as two of NYC's most popular kids tv comedy performers to The Regional TV/Radio section of your "Baby Boomer
eMuseum" website?

WGN in Chicago had "Garfield Goose and Friends" back in the 1950s and on into the mid-1970s. Host and creator was Frazier Thomas, who did all the voices of the many puppet characters. I received a Garfield Goose puppet as a birthday gift and I loved playing with it and making those clack-clack noises with its hard plastic bill.

Clips of this show are extremely rare but you can see one here:

The Twin Cities in Minnesota had "Lunch with Casey" for many years. Casey Jones, played by Roger Awsumb, (pronounced 'awesome') was a railroad engineer. His sidekick was Roundhouse Rodney, played by Lynn Dwyer, a former Ice Capades skater. The show ran for about 20 years and included the usual Looney Tunes, Hanna-Barbera cartoons, Gumby and silly skits with the show's roster of characters. Casey had his own happy birthday song that he sang at the end of each show, followed by him reading the names of kids whose birthday was that day. ("Happy, happy birthday to every girl and boy. Hope this very special day brings you lots of joy. Hope the birthday presents you get from mom and dad will make this very special day the best you've ever had.") You knew you were cool if your name was on the list!
