My sister and I loved Shari and her later Lamb Chop, Charlie Horse, and Hush Puppy puppets. When my daughter was young, my wife and I restricted her TV watching to selected recordings, among which were Shari Lewis programs. Our daughter is 21 now, and still speaks fondly of them.
As a side note, when I was 14. I met Ms. Lewis' father, Dr. Abraham Hurwitz, at a resort in the Catskills (Tamarack Lodge, if memory serves me). He was a magician and I got to be part of his act one evening. He removed my undershirt while I was wearing a suit, cut and magically restored my necktie, and taught me a mnemonic code to remember words shouted out by the audience.

For some reason I never cared much for Shari Lewis. Paul Winchel was my favorite.
